Market & Trading

The Central Market is a special, non-attackable planet near the galactic center where players exchange Metal, Carbon, and Hydrogen for KMS — the game's currency. It is a player-to-player order book: you post your own buy and sell orders, and they fill against other players' orders.

Trading Pairs

The market runs three trading pairs, all denominated against KMS: METAL_KMS, CARBON_KMS, and HYDROGEN_KMS.

There are no resource-to-resource pairs. To convert Metal into Carbon, sell Metal for KMS first, then buy Carbon with KMS. This keeps liquidity concentrated in three deep books rather than spread across more pairs.

Order Types

Four order types are available on each pair:

  • LIMIT_BUY / LIMIT_SELL — rest on the book at your chosen price until filled, cancelled, or expired. You specify price and quantity; the order fills as counterparties arrive. Maker fills incur no fee.
  • MARKET_SELL — fills immediately at the best available bid price, consuming as much liquidity as your quantity needs. Unfilled remainder is cancelled.
  • MARKET_BUY — KMS-budget-denominated: you specify the maximum KMS you are willing to spend; the engine buys whole resource units cheapest-first until the budget is consumed or the book is exhausted. A MARKET_BUY is rejected up front if the book cannot fully absorb the budget.

Fees

  • Maker fee = 0%. If your limit order rests and waits, the fill is free.
  • Taker fee applies when your order crosses immediately against a resting order — any MARKET order, or a LIMIT order priced aggressively enough to match at placement. The fee is taken from the KMS leg only; the resource leg is untaxed.

Fee proceeds are credited to the in-game treasury (the BANK user), which recycles them as player grants. Your available KMS shown in the UI is your total balance minus any KMS locked in open LIMIT_BUY orders.

How to Deposit Resources

You send a round-trip TRANSPORT mission to the Central Market with return after drop = ON. On arrival, your cargo credits your market account. The fleet then gathers any resources you want withdrawn and returns to your origin planet. You can also deposit-only or withdraw-only.

Droids cannot be deposited at the market. One-way TRANSPORT to the market is rejected — it would strand your fleet.

Order Limits

The market enforces a minimum order quantity per trade and a maximum number of open orders per account. Cancel stale orders to free up slots.

NPC Hauler Service

Do not want to commit your own ships for withdrawals? You can pay KMS to have an NPC "Special Hauler" deliver resources directly from your market account to any planet you own.

Cost. The delivery fee is a percentage of the delivered resources' market value, priced at a trailing-24-hour volume-weighted average (VWAP) per trading pair. The VWAP is recomputed hourly — not live — so it is manipulation-resistant. A delivery is unavailable if any requested resource has no VWAP (no fills in the last 24 hours for that pair).

There is no per-hauler surcharge. If your request needs more than one hauler's cargo capacity, the system auto-dispatches multiple haulers as a single logical delivery at the same per-unit cost.

Settlement. KMS and resources are debited at purchase time. Delivery is one-way — the hauler does not return. If the destination planet's storage is full, overflow is discarded. There is no refund if the destination planet is destroyed in transit.
